Description:

Lower Austria, with its vineyards and forest district and the capital Vienna are for many the real heart of the country. Nestled between vineyards slopes and wide horizon enchanted forests bikers will find a magnificent curve paradise – and even far away from all the big-city bustle. Let us do a little between red and white wine, between storm and calm amid blazing history.

A hilly landscape with forests, plowed fields, accurate, perfect slopes and meandering streams gezirkelten vines spread in front of the windshield of our RT. Everywhere greets already the autumn, the country begins to decorate with the colors – a great time for a colorful history.

This actually begins yesterday evening, as we have stored for entertaining Autobahnhatz our “seven things” at the country inn at the gates of Krems. “Storm time” is everywhere and who is on the harsh autumn winds thinks that is mighty wrong. The Weinviertler storm is the new wine, the grape must which has only just begun to ferment.

But beware: As light and tangy taste like this “White Spring” also be overlaid with the sweetness of alcohol has experience in itself. If you follow that is the motto of many Lower Austria and the storm-time as many glasses of drink, as you have years under their belts, then you should not just evening the moped in the garage, but also start a biker breakfast the next day with a Alkotest.

No storm damage
Entirely free from storm damage I am doing our BMW in the new day. About smallest country roads we swing to Hollabrunn in the heart of the wine district. Around the mighty church for a lively old town hosts the first pit stop. So insignificant, the first sight of the little town a few kilometers further Wolkersdorf may be, you can not fool this.

The “Gateway to the Wine Quarter” is the only way to collect awards: Youth-friendly community of Lower Austria – Climate-Friendly Municipality in north – Healthy community of Lower Austria – and so on. In the marketplace we treat ourselves to a brief pit stop again before it along splendidly dressed-up rows of houses goes back into the vastness of the landscape.

Endless vines hanging dozing under a white and blue late summer sky and hid behind an autumn-tinged trees pretty cellar lanes on the right and left of the bar. Your reputation shapes the wine district, as hardly any other historical character.

The Weinviertler Kellergassen
They are usually somewhere on the outskirts of the historic village core, they are only a few meters wide and its real treasures lie behind windowless doors low down evenly into the cool earth. But in everyday life, they have an equally important place, like the church or the Tropicana.

For in the cellar lanes will work after the harvest until late at night, go here wines, and even whole volumes traditionally sealed with a handshake and then the owner of the participants, each trading party going on. Therefore, the basement, the streets are often unknown flagship wine of the district.

Surely blood-soaked ground in the afternoon we arrive in Jedenspeigen, just east of Lower Austria, directly on the border with Slovakia.

60,000 soldiers were here in 1278 against, Rudolf I of Habsburg destroyed Ottokar II, King of Bohemia, in one of the greatest knights and battles of Europe laid the foundations of Habsburg rule in Austria. That must have been a massacre! Through a hilly landscape we swing in the last light of day back in our hostel.

Living history
In the north of the wine district leads our second day trip. Great and mighty is draped Maissau castle from the 12th Century would soon be in front of the windshield of the RT, a gem, and for the purchase, I even cover my bank account. Once again, true then accompanied us glorious weather on the way forward after Hadres.

Colourful Kellergassen receive us there, wide fields set bright with neat rows, harvesting ripe pumpkins yellow contrasts in the still-green vine leaves and a town hall along the lines of “could you ask for nothing else,” inspires us in Laa an der Thaya. Huge, magnificent and pompous it was built to mark the 50th anniversary of Government Emperor Franz Josef I in 1899 for then a mere 140 000 crowns. Great!

Alternative program under trees
Driving skills and a natural counterpoint to the west adjoining forest area. Early morning we embark on a discovery trip straight to the north. On Schonberg at the Kamp we go to Pulkau in the valley, truly fluent in another area where the line between wine and wood.

Retz immediately prior to the Czech border, we are greeted with an impressive market square, one of the largest and most beautiful in Austria. Swing through the gate of the “Verderberhauses” we are in an ensemble of beautifully restored baroque and Biedermeier buildings along the historic cobblestone streets.

In no man’s land border with the Czech Republic, it then goes for a little cornering to Riegersburg on the edge of the National Park Thayatal. My advice: Follow the signs must also be there for you Hardegg castle. High above the river Thaya rises the mighty fortress, already outside the bulwark of a mighty punch her a lot.

About Litschau and Heidenreichstein with its unique water castle in the town center, our tour day inclines with giant strides towards its end. There was still much to discover here between wine and wood, but tomorrow we still expect the environs of Vienna. Admittedly, around the capital of Austria is a land inhabited pretty tight. But even here you can discover scenic, surprisingly curvaceous lines. Yes, the following day tour is one of the most bend of Lower Austria.
You may not believe it …

The Vienna Woods and Vienna
He is the most popular recreational area of Vienna, he is an important green lung for the city. And he is a magnificent curve area!

By the way: This round commute from outside the gates of Vienna, even if you are planning a big-city visit, skip this round a bit faster in order to have more time in the evening for Vienna. Through the heart of the Vienna Woods in the early morning we swing out into the countryside. Tiny country roads take us to St.

Poelten curvy, the capital and largest city in Lower Austria. On the eastern edge of the Wachau – the way since 2000 UNESCO world heritage site – we swing to the Danube and its huge bed. About Tulln and St. Andrae-Wordern we reach Klosterneuburg, but not before throwing a glance at the Lourdes grotto in Maria Gugging. 1925 was built in a quarry that replica of the famous pilgrimage in the Pyrenees.

Klosterneuburg on the Danube bank, it then goes to a final ride through the Vienna Woods on Purkersdorf Breitenfurt and around the western outskirts of Vienna. Then we set the left turn signal and allow us the historical and touristic treasures of the world-famous capital. So much time has to be …

Lower Austria and Vienna:
GENERAL:
The smallest and the largest state are summarized here. For Vienna – Austria’s smallest state capital and at the same time – is completely surrounded by Lower Austria. The latter in turn enthusiastically celebrated mainly by two quarters: the vineyards and the forest area.

And although we expect neither in Vienna nor in Lower Austria alpine pleasures, you will also find that the region of the tour of discovery has so much to offer.

CLIMATE:
Mild, but rainy winters, a colorful spring from mid-April, a warm, rarely lasting hot summer and a colorful, fruitful autumn characterize the climate of Lower Austria. Autumn is harvest time, it bustles with activity everywhere.

BIKE RIDE:
Away from the big cities of the traffic goes instantly to zero, the country and its winding streets are then virtually to ourselves. The station network is sufficiently dense, workshops exist only in the larger cities. Anyone who wants to explore Vienna with his own moped should bring enough time. My tip for the day trip to Vienna on Sunday directly with early morning trip to the center.

SEE:
Vines as far as the eye, bright yellow pumpkin fields and forests and a hilly landscape, the charm, especially in their supposed simplicity, is characterized by Lower Austria. In between are historically “valuable” villages and towns worth seeing include Retz, Hollabrunn, and Laa an der Thaya Mistelbach or Poysdorf and of course Vienna.

FOOD AND DRINK:
The legendary Austrian cuisine has also in the entire region an immense importance. It starts with hearty breakfast with butter twist, go, hearty lunches to evening stop off in taverns, at the vineyard or in the exquisite cuisine, the dishes every blow reliably tight leather suit.

ACCOMMODATION:
Farm holidays, apartments ideal for motorcycle groups as well as pensions, guesthouses and hotels can be found in droves in the whole, perfectly developed tourist region. Author and sociality found a very pleasant stay with nice rooms and tasty food.

Description:

The battle for the crown in the Supermoto Sport will now be played on the road. Husqvarna and I want him to take the KTM to cut Nuda chair.

In this article: KTM 990 Super Duke R, 900 R Husqvarna Nuda.

Hi Jo, we have the brand new Nuda R and R the SM with ABS, “the PS-boss snorts into the phone. “Do you have time?” Immediately my thoughts explode like New Year’s Eve rockets. Man, what a horny Order! In my mind’s eye I’ll beat even across the passes up and down and indulge endless acceleration wheelies.

“Hey, are you still there?” Uwe pulls me out of my daydream. “I know because a kart hall in Rottweil to test drive and photo, the weather is so lousy!” Boom, bubble burst. I can do just a click disappointed “Ah, okay.” Peals of laughter at the other end. The entire editorial staff listened well to my sighs: “Just kidding, yo! The hotel is booked in southern France. Come to invite her, departure is tomorrow! ”
I can hardly believe my luck. End of December, I again find myself at the foot of the most brilliant mountain passes of southern France. The sun is in full format in the sky, the sea rushes with a roar into an adjacent bay and next to me is Sven with the two test bikes KTM Super Duke R and 900 R. Hus qvarna Nuda the brand-new tires are our only limit. Only when hanging on the flanks is in tatters, the end of test.

The Nuda R I make a start. I like this one or the other visual detail is not yet so real, is the seating position of a piece.

The knees are among the widely spread spoilers much cooler place, similar to a single cylinder. The sporty, hard seat immediately tells the required driving style. By pressing the start button troubled not just me. The staff of our hotel immediately turn her head, her eyes search the source of listening pleasure. Incredibly, this wonderful V2 babbling.

And in a series from the BMW twin-shelf. Husqvarna, thank you!

Excellent is also the very wide and straight handlebars. Sporty correctly connects the street directly with the hands, but this also entails disadvantages. This extreme loads hardly cruising. Too high, the effort, because at low speeds, the front wheel drops into the bend and only by counter-steering, you can keep on track Nuda.

The same when braking in an inclined position. Here, too, steers the front wheel by itself. However, this was only noticeable when you travel in a relaxed pace, and then boom speeds. Assuming the whole sport on, the Nuda shows its true greatness and becomes a fully reliable partner.

With increasing speed, the curve is hunting for bonfires. Like it angled off, then stays exactly in line and is not impressed by power slides.

However, these must be provoked, as the Metzeler Sportec M5 fitted properly locked into the asphalt. As you go across it, sometimes not only pure but also across the wheelie out of the turn out. In all of these games right on the edge, the Nuda R acts super reliable, supported by balanced engine. It depends only on gas with about 100 Nm, but is easy to dose. The Twin series knows no slumps and slides from the basement to the speed limiter always easy. There’s only criticism of the long gas path.

The transmission can indeed be bony, but still well off.

Unfortunately, the clutch does something against the Nuda. I would like to zusliden with the bike in supermoto-style on the curve. But neither too short nor clutch slip point the lack of a slipper clutch invite. So you risk a quick highside or stamping the rear wheel sends one straight. Both are here on the rather narrow mountain roads really not a nice moment.

The suspension was adjusted by us from scratch. Due to the tighter setting the fork dives under braking from much less, and the front wheel brake acts thus is no longer so aggressive. Also, the spongy feeling in the steering head, you get well, thanks to the adjustable Ohlins shock absorber is well under control.

In addition, the side stand is so much later on. Unfortunately, an insertion is missing in the side panel, so adjusting the suspension to be treacherous Schraubaktion.

The trampling over small waves with the now stiff chassis could be eliminated, however. Ergo, one should decide in advance how you want to be on the road. Soft and comfortable or sporty and tough. In between, there’s not much. Likewise, it is virtually impossible in the hanging-off to drive, because obstruct the driver’s passenger pegs to the necessary space – a small, verschmerzbarer blemishes and bonus for people with small feet!

The switch to the KTM is amazing. The 990 is so far untouched the reference. If you previously but with the ultra-agile Nuda down, the SM R feels at times just like a wet sack. But that sets up quickly.

Although you can feel the front wheel not as directly, but the KTM is building on their way after just a few corners of trust. Wonderfully neutral in contrast to the Nuda, with zero-effort steering, it follows the impulses of their pilots. So it can be effectively relaxed beat and iron through the Maritime Alps. If not for this potent V-2 engine.

And that’s not a contradiction! For each curve, whether in the first, second or third gear, you can accelerate out of the KTM on the rear wheel. The engine pushes significantly more than the BMW-derivative and the Husky knows no trailer! This creates just such a thing as stress, because you have to be at every halt to accelerate itself.

Who gets regulated, has a clear advantage in fun factor. And the KTM is not nearly as early as the Nuda. It was not until late grind the footpegs and completely safe to take because the raised ContiSportAttack huge slopes. We quickly a pleasant feeling of security, which is enhanced by the built-in model 2012 new ABS.

This ABS comes from the 990 SM T, is only applied sport and thereby controls later. If you want to penetrate to the control range, it is delayed almost to the force limit of the clamp handle. But beware! It also poses risks, especially when going downhill because of uncontrolled full braking and a rollover is despite ABS in it. For this reason, the KTM suspension of PS was adjusted radically new.

Similar to the SM R Nuda is too soft in its default setting. But that can change, yes the chassis offers high-quality components from the factory.

Sven and I are about the two bikes at the end of the last downhill on the gravel parking lot at 180 degrees. Now that the dust has settled, we reflect on our pedestals. These are not super bikes, which are power Motos – with the Nuda as the second representative of a completely new car genre. Ingenious thrust, set in super handy scene.

Interestingly, in a very different kind and polarizing Can Nuda conceal their origin from the sports department of Husqvarna little, it’s the KTM, which makes it rather inconspicuous meters.

On the passports could not settle on the other really. Nuda and SM R act on highest “Drifting Skills” and both bikes will find its fans.

The entry into the top class of the Nuda is managed and emphasize both twins, that fun, action, power and adrenaline do not always have to take place beyond the pale. These bikes could include the future.

Did the PS super sports-gas heads poked fun at the beginning or about me, things look different now. Now I laugh when the guys come back with stressed expression and long arms pulled from the Superbike test in Almeria. Sometimes less is more. Okay, sometimes!
