Motorcycle tour of Slovenia

Description:
Julian Alps and Karavanke
Even the entry on the right Wurzenpaß provides driving pleasure. The fact that this can pass very strong gradient or slope upwards to the typical smell the overheated brake pads spread, meet many cars to us to smell.

In Slovenia, we base the health resort Bled, where I just made a reservation via internet for a few days a room. Bled is beautifully situated on the same lake. The Bled Castle is perched on a rock to see directly on the lake. The hotel is located directly on Lake Jelowica, we are excited at the holiday mood has already set anyway while driving.
Julian Alps
On the first day in Slovenia, I would like to take some streets of the Julian Alps to the dogs and ice cream in Trieste on the Adriatic enjoy that can be easily overcome by our starting point. The streets of the Julian Alps are far superior to my idea. The roads are often narrow and steep and full of curves in all categories. The views which are shown again and again beautiful. The sleepy little villages in the mountains, let us think a time travel to have begun in the past. Been up to us and we can quickly find ourselves at the border to Italy, thanks to the Schengen Agreement can just drive across the border, no jams, no waiting, for the simple, how beautiful.
Many curves reached later as Trieste. The weather is fantastically beautiful and we wander around a bit in the port. Of course there is also an excellent Italian ice cream, just as I had imagined. Then it’s back on the road. The route back through the Julian Alps takes us back to many books and countless unnamed curves back to the hotel. Only the pavement calls for the suspension and our bones temporary basis. For racers, the track would probably not be suitable. There are sections, because it no longer makes sense in the third gear, because the curves are very close and come in an incredibly short intervals. The landscape is a pleasure, we pass through some of the wine-growing regions of Slovenia. In the evening we enjoy the view on the beautiful lake of Bled, a Slovenian wine.
Karawanken
The ride on the second day takes us in the Triglav National Park to Bohinjski Jezero. The Bohinj lake is gorgeous in a mountain basin, the surrounding mountains are reflected on the surface of the water, beautiful scenery you could not paint. We drive to the parking lot at the waterfall. I divide our motorcycles but we’ll save the twenty minute hike to the waterfall. A picture of the waterfall on the information board to be enough. Now I move the GS to the north to cross the Karawanken Seebergsattel. At the summit is already apparent that the good weather would take a little break, a strong wind pushes clouds in our direction. We drive in Carinthia a little east and then cross the border into Slovenia Dravograd. The route takes us back to the hotel with large hop-growing areas, one might believe to be traveling in the Hallertau. Apparently, the Slovenians build the hops for their beer itself. When we arrive in town the clouds condensed considerably and there are some drops on the visor recognizable. We decide, however, the Bled castle yet to visit. A small road leads up to a parking lot until just before the castle. The rest has to be done on foot. At the entrance to the castle is 8 euros per person to shell out an entrance fee. The castle has been restored really well and the price is justified. Inside the castle there is lots to see. We enjoy first the great views in all directions, especially of course the views are beautiful lake of Bled with the Maria Island. Then we visit the Castle Museum, here you can find all sorts of stories about the area. For me as a professional printer is the medieval castle of printing, which is located in the tower, certainly a highlight. Here, as printed on Gutenberg’s time, we may see and photograph it. Also interesting is the wine cellar or the herb garden. Too bad that the weather is not really cooperate. Here in the castle because there are also a restaurant with a beautiful garden in the courtyard. In the evening, waiting for us at the hotel but again good and plentiful food, the chef here knows his craft and it is not bad that we are not around in the castle.
Drive home
The weather has calmed down and not a cloud obscures the blue sky. Home I really wanted to cross over the Loibl Pass, the border with Austria, a somewhat lax attitude of the Navis leads me towards However Kranska Gora, because I will not turn back I let myself be guided back to the root pass. Then we let the little machine on the fly to Obertauern Katschberg Pass and drive to Salzburg in the home. A beautiful journey to a close. Slovenia is for motorcycle riders a good starting point for trips in all directions. Austria, Croatia and Italy are accessible as day trips. Slovenia also has lots of self-rewarding destination for excursions. The karst landscape with many caves and beautiful rivers, valleys and mountains, is ideal for bikers.
