Issue 08/1981
Suzuki Katana venture with a ground-breaking motorcycle design. 1980 saw the big Suzuki models from so respectable, that had to act European Marketing Director Masao Tani, and the German importer. On their own they could make the German designer Hans A. Muth new covers for the good Japanese four-valve technology. The result was the Katana. Named after the ultra-sharp sword of the samurai, the progressive design provides true tsunami waves of enthusiasm or indignation. After all, the dreaded Japanese Overlord clapped applause. MOTORCYCLE the editors followed suit: both the 1100s as well as the 750 version elicited the praise of colleagues in test mode.

MOTORCYCLE reporter Eva Breutel takes 83-year-old great grandmother motorcycle tour through Upper Bavaria. The senior citizen moves quickly with its 46 years old DKW RT 100 through the landscape. held for over four decades with loden jacket, apron and house slippers. MOTORCYCLE tests caravans for bikes. Caravans and motorcycles had not long to do a lot together. That changed the company Knaus with their practical “Sports and Fun” model. It took two people and a bike room for a harmonious relationship journey. If necessary, was expensive, the pure fun car to transport. MOTORCYCLE attested to the hanger (240 to 540 kg payload) good handling characteristics thanks to the favorable placement of the bike to the axis.
