The coupling and uncoupling of the brake calipers on the bike is a work that does not tolerate crudeness, either in the hobby shop or in the heterogeneous car-repair shop or a car tire dealer. Unscrew the brake calipers

  • Slide calipers on the discs, screw bolts and tighten slightly at first.
  • Bolts with the tightening torque specified by the manufacturer. Both screws must be checked at least twice each to the correct torque.
  • ABS sensor and screw it tight.
  • Brake line brackets with screws.
  • Press brake several times to the pads on the discs.
  • Wheel through turn and check that it is free and easy: it may be to hear any grinding noises.
  • Dirt, grease, oil and wipe off the assembly points!

With most machines you need to mount the rear caliper screw off, because that on the caliper holder
(“Brake anchor plate”) is fixed, which is done when taking off the rear axle with integral brake caliper to the side. Does the caliper

When the installation is important to note:

  • When the machine for removal and replacement of the wheels on a car lift, is essential to the front and on both sides secured with straps.

Loctite is needed?
Some mechanics swear by the installation of the brake caliper mounting bolt on a liquid thread lock such as Loctite “medium strength”, or otherwise give a drop of oil or fat to the special aluminum thread. There is no universal rule for all types of motorcycles. It is important in any case that the external threads of the screws and the internal threads in the caliper mount perfectly in order, cleaned up the screws before re-turning with a brass brush and are tightened to the specified torque. Read the manufacturers instructions!
